Fall weather is in full swing and often times, as a trail runner, you need some added wind protection for those cooler days and frosty mornings. Soft shell jackets have become popular due to their combination of wind protection, breathability and off-the-trail style. Arc’teryx Men’s Trino Jersey LS is a well-designed soft shell windbreaker, designed with Arc’teryx’s typical bold colours and comfortable fit. The Trino Jersey is made from a combination of Windstopper® and Altasaris™ fabrics, allowing for fluid ease of movement while running. The medium fit my frame nicely while the design and fabrics allowed for resistant free movement while running. The rear pockets were easy to access (though I do prefer front pockets). In high winds this jacket performed up to expectations, with continued warmth and breathability even during a long run. Despite it not specifically being waterproof, the jacket does bead minor amounts of water, in case the weather suddenly turns, or in my case, your hydration pack leaks. The only downside during testing was the zipper, which when fully zipped chafed my neck despite the built-in chin guard. If adjusted and sized property this should be preventable. Overall, the Trino Jersey is an excellent fall soft shell windbreaker, designed with true comfort and style for trail running during cool fall and spring conditions.
